thought experiment: what would we get from video footage from Obama's secret fundraiser? would it confirm any of the shit his critics claim he privately intends? I don't think the guy's the messiah or anything, but I think he's waaaaaaaaaaay less duplicitous than R-money here

I think there would be a much different degree of divisiveness stemming from any similar Obama comments. The "guns and religion" comment wasn't so enraging to the people he was trying to court. Meanwhile, Romney has spent so much time trying to become likable that these comments destroyed all that effort and left that image of the out-of-touch Country Club executive.

i hate to even put a finer point on the obama comment but his guns/religion comment in context was trying to say that he still needed to go out and reach those particular voters even though they hated him and his political orientation. it's the polar opposite of what romney was saying there..

no equivalency. optically/aurally it looked/sounded shitty but substantively theres no comparison.

Soft Focus, Fading in on a scene of an idyllic small town storefront, a woman, let's say latina, mid-thirties leaves the store in tears. A father sits behind the counter with his son looking up at him questioning.

Father: "I like firing people"

Quick cut to a middle aged female boss and her younger employee at a small friendly looking urban coffee shop. A homeless guy, maybe a vet, maybe with a pathetically sad looking dog on a leash, stops at the window and looks longingly at some of the pastries on display. The younger employee grabs a couple of donuts and starts to walk them out from behind the counter to the man. Boss-lady grabs her arm to stop her.

Boss: "My job is not to worry about those people, I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

Cut to two entitled looking white frat boy types walking out of a 7-11, as they are leaving one of them opens up a candy bar and throws a wrapper on the floor of the store casually commenting to his friend, as the weary be-turbaned storekeeper goes to sweep it up.

WFB1 - “No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”

Cut to Jewish grandfather and son watching horrific carnage from the middle east on tv. Son seems traumatized. Grandfather pats him on the head.

Grandfather: "You recognize that this is going to remain an unsolved problem...and we kick the ball down the field and hope that ultimately, somehow, something will happen and resolve it."

Embedded in each cut is Romney saying some quip about his superior values.
