I hate monkeys. Would rather watch a new Air Bud movie.

Actually, this is probably better than any post-End Game marvel movies:

This doesn't have the same writers or director as the last two, so it might be a good idea to keep expectations low. It's the guy who made the Maze Runner movies (haven't seen them) helming this one and it's also the first 'Apes' flick from 20th Century Fox since they were purchased by Disney. It could still be solid, though - one of the writers is responsible for Prey and another wrote Avatar: The Way of Water and created (+ adapted for TV) Foundation series, which I've heard is good?

picked up the blu ray set and gonna rewatch the original series soon. So long since I enjoyed the riot of violence in Conquest

I don't expect much from the new one, in truth the third one didn't actually set my head on fire like the first two. But I'll just happily pay for my ticket and appreciate whatever we get!

i wasnt exactly crazy about the last one either but i thought it was so interesting how the whole thing felt so different in tone from 90% of big budget hollywood nowadays and almost seemed to have come from a different era. its scoring and general tone all throughout felt like a late 80s or early 90s general audience picture in a way that was genuinely jarring

maaaan

I still haven't seen the third one and this thread HAD been re-motivating me to make it happen

but then you two had to go ahead and continue posting

I predict that the 4th one is gonna be a jurassic world - only the wise will know that something's changed

i fucking LOVE that first the nu-apes movie

Planet of the Apes ('01) was the last Tim Burton movie I saw in it's entirety. Fuck that guy (Ed Wood and PeeWee's Big Adventure excluded).

Ed wood is absolutely the last good movie he made and nobody had the balls to say anything about it for like 30 fucking years

It's unbelievable. Batman was overrated but there's a reason people loved it so much, and although I think most praise should go to Henry Selick - Timmy did bring us Nightmare Before Christmas.

I'll give some real praise to Mars Attacks too even though that was the heel turn imho and ultimately bad, it has brilliant images and moments. His problem starts right there for me, the whole movie is just a mean-spirited and cynical rephrasing of something older and more sinscere. That can be a really fun thing but you have to be brilliant to pull it off, and once you start repeating yourself it's game over.

Watching Ed Wood and then the Disaster Artist is a really interesting thing to do.

I meant to watch Sleepy Hollow this past October for the season but didn't get around to it. I'm curious how it holds up. It's got to be better than anything afterwards.

guess I need to watch Ed Wood at last

can anyone explain how/why Batman Returns is better than Batman? it has some charms but it doesn't gel as well as the first one
